Apples and Chillies

Hello!
All a bit mundane here (so nice!)
I took Pip off to the vet for another injection – the lovely vet comes out and tells me “Well, we are never going to be friends” (Meaning Pip)
He was not pleased with her and vocalised that a lot, but happily there was no shredding of vet involved.
He got lots of cuddles back at home and is now happily buried under the doona snoozing.

Another wild windy day. Can’t help thinking of Jeff often!
I mostly parked myself inside.
One of the items on my list is to get apples through the dehydrator.
Made a start today.

I whizzed up all the scraps and threw those together with a bunch of other scraps and made a couple of chicken cakes. The girls were huddled down the back, their feathers all being blown every which way, but seemed pleased with their warm treat!

While I had no plan to cook anything with chillies, I needed to cut and deseed the ones I picked yesterday. I have had to throw lots in the freezer whole – something I don’t like doing as its so much easier to take them out ready to go! But… time!!! (as in lack of it)

No lack of time excuses this week, so on with it!
Saving a bunch of seeds from all the biggest ones.
I really do need to hunt out what bottles I have kicking about and get on and make a double batch of the sweet chilli sauce.

Friday is around the corner!!
Cheers

A happy traveller through life! Right now living in NW Tasmania with a gorgeous Nurse-Husband, a fool of a Siamese Cat and several chickens. We love our fairly simple lifestyle of growing a lot of what we eat and enjoying the stunning surrounds of our little patch.

  1. Is your Jeff hiking by himself? I’ve been wondering if your new boots got broken in nicely for your trek?

    1. Hi Teri – Yes! Jeff is up on the mountain – he went on his own but will connect with all the other people doing the hike at the moment as well.
Its weird not having any contact for the week. Can only imagine how he is getting on!
My boots are behaving nicely! and lucky they are broken in too as I went to put my old boots on to get the seaweed the other day and one of them pretty much fell apart – beyond my capabilities to fix this time! 🙁 I have about 3 weeks before my turn on the mountain!

  2. It gets a bit hairy when so many things need to be processed at the same time. The apples are gorgeous and so is everything else. That frog is so cute I showed it to the kids. Now they are begging for a pet frog, geez!

    1. Yes! Ongoing! I need to cook more tomatoes soon – wanting to dehydrate a veggie mix for my upcoming hike.
So funny re frog! I think they are cute but I would rather cuddle Pip!!
Thanks for the note – now I am reminded to go back to check out your blog again now that I am not up to my eyeballs in people! (just apples and tomatoes!)
