What a miserable day out there today!! Tonight we put the fire on and parked ourselves in front of the TV.
I worked out where our summer went. I read how the past few weeks the North Pole has been on average 22 degrees Celsius higher than usual!!!! Not 2 point 2. No typo. Twenty two. Thats nearly 76 Deg Fahrenheit for those that can’t be bothered googling.
Not real good.
I am wondering what kind of produce we will end up with this year if the warmer weather doesn’t come and stay put for a while??
I am actually a lot disappointed in my garlic. The bulbs don’t seem to be forming up like they should have by now. They really look like they need harvesting, but I will give them a couple more weeks. It was about this time last year that I harvested them…. but this is a weird season.
I love my garlic and it will be really sad not to have a big decent crop! Oh well… gardening has its wins and losses.
Happily the snow peas are just starting to produce! Lots of flowers… and today I made the huge harvest of five… 🙂
And some lettuce on the table for dinner too
One of the tomatoes in the hot house is doing especially well
Yesterday I spent a bit of time in the herb garden cutting back the oregano and lemon balm. I really don’t want them going to seed just yet!
Unfortunately tomorrow the weather calls for more of the same misery. I think I will pick more strawberries and indulge in a few more milkshakes!! Thats bound to cheer me up!
Hope your day was great!
Cheers
Hello from Kansas. Today it feels like 2 degrees Fahrenheit. The Arctic blast definitely blew in!
brrrrr!!! I think I am letting the side down over here! I am supposed to posting beautiful summery stuff to cheer everyone up from the cold – not whinging about it being cold again! haha!! Stay warm!! 🙂
Hi Lisa! I look forward to reading your emails and admiring the photos of your garden. Have you ever thought about starting a YouTube channel and posting garden tours? I follow John Kohler, founder of “Growing Your Greens” on YouTube and he is an inspiration to 350,000+ subscribers!!
Hello! Thank-you and glad you enjoy the Tasmanian stories.
No – I hadn’t ever considered YouTube. Mostly because I don’t have a recording device thats decent. Having a go at filming would be fun. Jeff has recently done a few little yard tours on his tablet to send to his family in Canada which is cool.
I’ll have to check out John Kohler when I get a chance!
I have recorded videos on my iPhone, and before that on my Android Galaxy — just take the video with the phone sideways so when you upload it to YouTube it isn’t a vertical slim “portrait” looking video — You’ll know exactly what I mean. I don’t mind a shaky low quality video– it would be lovely to hear your accent. 🙂 Oh and while I’m chatting with you, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE PIP! He has got to be the cutest cat I’ve ever seen…from Australia. 😛
Looking forward to you starting an Instagram page and/or YouTube channel!!! Blessings! x
lol – I think I am about one of the ten people left in Australia that don’t own a mobile (cell)phone! I’ll have to do a couple of little garden ‘tours’ on Jeff’s tablet and upload them to facebook as a starting point 🙂
Right now Pip is curled up under my jumper (sweater) with his back feet somehow sticking up over his ears! Looks so funny. I passed on your message about how cute you thought he was… he purred!! LOL
Have a lovely day!! 🙂
Your winter/summer sounds like how it was here this spring/summer in Iowa. My cold weather crops loved it & I had a bounty if them. My chinese cabbage was HUGE… were not talking just one. Plus my plain ol’ regular cabbage. The heat didn’t hit til almost August which is very unusual. Sooo the tomatoes were not the greatest this year for me. Along with the other warm guys. 🙁 But you get what ya get. A matter of fact I had stuff in the garden until about the 1 week in December which is very, very unusual. It’s usually put to bed by 1st week in November. It’s been that warm!! Crazy!! Well the fun & enjoyment of gardening… wouldn’t change it. ♥
Every year is different!! Its like the seasons around the world are shifting. Its lovely when you can stretch your garden into the winter months! Your cabbage success sounded amazing!! I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that summer will come back and stay put!!
December 9th in south Texas along the Rio Grande River the temperature is 43 f at 10 in the morning…it’s winter again! Slept very well under the down comforter last night
oooo – thats chilly!! But I love snuggling down under doonas & blankets when its cold! So cosy!
