Hello! I ate a scandalous amount of raspberries today! But I still managed to bring a kilo up to the house (About two and a bit pounds) Takes a long time to pick, but very enjoyable job!
It was a weird muggy kind of day. The rain had let up which was nice. The garden, weeds and all seemed to have shot up about a foot!
The most exciting thing about today was digging up a few garlic plants! Some of the bulbs were really big! Lots of good sized ones and a few tiddly ones. This is about a third of the patch. I think the others need a wee bit more time
I was so pleased… they had taken so long to form up I thought this year was going to be a garlic-failure!
This lot is upstairs starting the drying process. Vampire Free Zone. And I can smell them from downstairs!! 🙂
Even though we have the bore, I still like my rain barrels. They all did a great job of being topped up in the last 24 hours. The big one at the front I put up yesterday evening, empty. By this morning it was over half full!
Pip really needed a run around outside today! He has been cooped up too long.
He chases me all over the yard which is kind of cute… except he head-butts the camera which makes getting the shot I actually wanted tricky.
Hope everyone’s day is fabulous!
Cheers
Got my weights a bit mixed – 1 kilo of raspberries is about 2.2 pounds… that sounds more impressive doesn’t it?? 😀
Yes it does!! That’s a really good picking in my book! I just bought a half pint of raspberries today for $2.50! Yours are a better price and i’m sure a lot tastier!!! Sometimes in winter i just have to have a bite of those lovely things!! I love them on my oats i the morning. ?
Oh the price of shop-bought raspberries! Even though they are in season the supermarket here charges $54/kg !!!! And they don’t even come packed in gold!!
We are lucky to have a good patch so I will make the most of it! Good idea on oats in the morning! A nice start to the day!!
Isn’t it amazing how much a garden grows after a good rain! Your garlic looks really great. I think I am going to plant some in the fall. I also want to try onions. I bought some last fall from a lady having a yard sale. They are so much better than store bought and last for months. I am so looking forward to spring!
Nothing beats a natural downpour thats for sure!! Highly recommend the garlic! Its pretty easy too. I have done onions before – and while they are good and I enjoyed them, they are space hungry and take ages. So because this area grows and sells a lot of onions – I just buy local and save my garden space for other things. I might change my mind again over the season!! 🙂
Yes – I can’ understand you looking forward to spring already!! 🙂 Winter is a good time to make crazy plans!
