Hello!
I was invited by one of my cousins (Leonie) to do a bit of a spur of the moment trip down south of Hobart for a couple of days to do the Tahune Airwalk.
Seemed like a good idea, so off we went.
I had a lovely couple of days catching up with Leonie and one of her daughters as well as seeing some beautiful countryside.
We had a fabulous meal at another cousins place (I simply call most of my relatives down here ‘cousin’ as it all gets a bit complicated – 2nd 3rd, twice removed etc etc 😀 )
They had a gorgeous garden, so will share a few of the flowers tonight and tomorrow pop back hopefully with a few snaps of the actual airwalk.
Hope your weekend was amazing too!
Cheers
Simply gorgeous dahlias! Do they need to be dug every year or is your climate such that they are perennials?
Where I am, [snow country] dahlias have to be dug every fall and wintered over and if they survive my lack of winter attention, replanted for the summer show. As much as I enjoy them, have stopped growing them as I seem to not allow them to survive the storage part of their life.
Hello! Yes, I was rather envious of those dahlias! Aunty Lois has done a magnificent job with them.
Ruby used to dig hers up, leave them somewhere and replant. I left mine in the ground a season or two and they multiplied insanely – so pretty much ended up having to dig them up so they didn’t take over the veggie garden! Its easier to store in the ground – but I guess that only counts when you don’t get buried in snow!
I am pretty new to them, but I think next season I would like to see if I can get hold of a few different bulb varieties.
Not sure what an airwalk is so will be looking forward to learning! Love the dahlias!
Just finished post processing the photos so about to do something about a post now re airwalk. It’s probably got a different name in other places 🙂
