Seems like all of the Norwich House Staff are getting a bit lax these days.
The chooks actually managed three eggs today, although why I was excited about this is a mystery as we have 10 girls – 30% laying is nothing to do a song and dance over.
AND while I was away we have had MICE move in!! What were those boys doing? The furry one in particular really needs to pull his socks up.
I want to get my food into better storage containers – and my younger chef sister, Michelle, gave me a really great suggestion.
Lots of restaurants get their supplies in large lidded buckets/containers that often get thrown away.
So I walked the main street of Wynyard this afternoon and came away with two large sized containers (free) from one of the local take-away shops. Another cafe told me they had just given theirs away but to return at the end of the week as there hopefully would be some more!
Ok – so… they are not the last word in decor, but they were free. And right now I am more than happy with free!
The less food in easy access to mice the better.
Oh the joys of an old country home!
Hope your day was mouse-free!
Cheers!
It is funny that you wish us a mouse-free day…because mine was not mouse-free either 🙁
I had one in my bathroom that sounded like he had a miniature chainsaw with him inside the wall. I am stopping on the way home today to pick up glue traps. Hopefully by this time tomorrow he will be a non issue. Wake up that cat and tell him to get busy!!!
Oh no!! (Sorry I did have a little chuckle)(Miniature chain saw!!!!! I KNOW this sound!! lol) Our problem is we can’t GET inside the walls!!! So if they die… they inconsiderately stink for a week!
I hope you are soon mouse – free!!! (ps cat on lap still sleeping!!!!)
I’ve had my share of mice living in this RV. We now have a battery operated trap under our bed. Baited with peanut butter it has killed several nosy critters!
I started storing all dry ingredients in sealed containers because of bugs and mice. You should see some of the lids with teeth marks! Had one persistent mouse eat the labels off of jars….I guess he was after the glue.
Good luck on getting rid of these pesky critters.
They really like peanut butter hey? We have used that in traps outside.
Funnily enough we haven’t really had a problem with mice or rats inside the house very much – in the walls is another story!!
I am going to follow your lead about getting everything into containers! I have a lot of things already in tins and jars etc… but there is a way to go yet!
Having a chuckle about the glue loving mouse!
