I knew I cleared the dining room table for a reason…
Pip happily snoopervising the creation of another tension tray.
Then he got bored – (I love cat-yawns!)
And then he wanted to play with the sticks
Eventually I completed another tension tray.
It rained on and off… not as bad as yesterday.
So I finished the vacuuming since Jeff was awake.
Ran about the yard in between rain squalls and fed the chooks – under supervision, as the sparrows are just cleaning us out of wheat!
Moved one of the half pallets up to the back veranda and set it up so I can store my pumpkins on it (will let it dry out first).
Went to top up on firewood and saw about 5 chooks calmly marching down the track near the shed… on the ‘non-chicken’ side of the yard! Busted!!
Had to herd their feathery butts back and sort the fence out.
Lastly today I took some eggs and veggies to Shirley and had a nice cuppa and some cake, along with a chat.
Brrrr… seems cold tonight!
Have a great weekend!!
Cheers!
While on the other side of winter, we can match you and raise you with all the rain we’ve had. Farmers can’t get into their fields to plant, don’t want to know what that will mean to food prices. Around here, all the wetness is an issue to our primary summer industry, Little League baseball camps. We have 2 biggies, and a small one. The largest brings in 132 teams of 12 and under boys EACH WEEK [Saturday through Thursday] along with their doting parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents to play/watch them play baseball. Each team has at least 12 players, most are closer to 20 kids. This goes on all summer long. There’s a line from an old movie which I use: They’re ba-ck! Our forecast next week is rain every day. Don’t have a clue how they will get all their games played. So glad it’s not my problem.
Stay dry!
Wow – That sounds insanely soggy! Isn’t it a little odd for this time of your year? At least we have winter as an excuse haha
The baseball camps sound crazy busy!! Great for the local economy. (Maybe time to be selling raincoats and towels!!)
I hate it when it rains for too much of my precious summer! Get enough of it in winter and spring!! Mind you it wasn’t bad here today… started clear and sunny. I fixed that by putting out the laundry 😀 (I should know better) 🙂
Every spring, the General Clinton’s Regatta Race is held, starting at the headwaters of the Susquehanna River and ending at a town called Unadilla. It’s the longest running canoe race in this country. It’s name is from American history, when the American General Clinton, blocked the river building up water, then with all his boats laden down with Revolutionary weapons on the water, broke the dam and floated down on the water crest to save territory from the British. The British knew that the heavy weaponry would take days to get into position over land.
This year’s race was the quickest over the 24 mile route due to high water and the Boy and Girl Scouts who always have raced a shorter distance were pulled from the water due to safety concerns. Many unhappy Scouts! The community makes a big weekend out of the race, with the end having lots of events besides canoes. So much for today’s American history lesson. LOL
That sounds like fabulous fun! I was going to google this today but didn’t get the chance… save it for the next downpour!! I love regattas. I went in one in our local area when I was a teenager and it was one of the best days!!! I can imagine how miffed all the kids would have been to have been taken out of the water!!
Thanks for sharing that with me… I am looking forward to more of a read about it and see some action photos!!
