Apologies for the grotty gardeners hands, but I was a bit excited to pick the first raspberry! There nearly wasn’t a photo – I wanted to scoff it down straight away! š
Happily when I did get around to scoffing, it tasted fantastic!
I had a nice time this afternoon picking a few things from the garden
It takes me ages to pick the snow peas. They are like Ninja’s – they hide in plain sight!!
Half of them went into the salad tonight. I hadn’t realised how much I had missed fresh crunchy salads!
Today was another market day, and my friend Maureen kindly said I could bring along some more lettuce to sell. So I took down 8 – they were bigger than pictured above as this was taken in November – It was quite the box of leafy greens!! I got a lot of ‘oooh’s and aaaah’s’ from people as I walked through the market!! š
By the time I went home, had brekkie, and returned, they all had sold!
I also accidentally sold several calendars as well (I was delivering Maureen her calendar Ā – she liked it so much she bought more as well as another lady who saw and bought 4!!)
Its not often I go to the market, not have a stall and come home with nearly $150!!!! (How much closer to Texas does that get me I wonder??)
I just finished cooking up some fresh strawberry jam (as one does at nearly midnight) so I will leave you with a couple of garden photos and then trot off to bed!
Enjoy what is left of your weekend!
Cheers
Your veg and fruit basket looks amazing! Your hard work is paying off in deliciousness eh? Congrats on the calendar sales, you take amazing photographs.
Thanks Amy – its lovely to be picking more!! š
Congrats on your selling! Isn’t it great when you didn’t even have your own booth?
Here in Washington State I have had a few raspberries in November and even in December. I know they don’t taste like summer raspberries, but in the winter they are wonderful. The first fruit or veggie always tastes the best and can be so hard to share.
Thank you for your pictures and ideas.
Janet
Thank-you!! Was a bit of a surprise to go home cashed up!! lol
Oh what a treat to have raspberries so late! Lovely!
What a joy it is to see spring garden pics with significant snow on the ground here and temps way below freezing. Sadly, had to agree with my husband that next summer the veggie garden will have to be allowed to go to seed. Did plant half a bed of garlic, so should be able to harvest that come early summer. And do have strawberry plants which I plan on fighting the good fight with the squirrels for the fruit. Other than that, sigh, nothing due to health issues.
Oh, how disappointing for you to have to mostly let the garden go! I really hope that with a year of rest, things will pick up and you will be able to dive back in. And you never know what will just appear with no effort on your behalf!! One of my friends who doesn’t garden at all gets a really nice little crop of self seeded cherry tomatoes every year – by doing nothing!!! š
