Roland Revisited

(Not quite halfway up)

Hi!!

Jeff suggested a hike up Mt Roland (which we hadn’t done in ages) yesterday!
The weather has been so amazing.
Wow… Ouch on the legs and feet!!
I tend to gloss over in my mind on how much hard work it is getting up to the trig point!
Not to mention this time we had ice on the path to contend with!! That made the going a bit trickier. So easy to slip. Wasn’t always easy to find a safe place to put the feet!

17km – we were hiking for 7 hours. We were having to move our butts at the end as we were racing the sun to the horizon!
Thats the drawback of winter hiking. 5pm and its about dark!

I’m planning on a slow Sunday to go through the photos so I can share properly

Anyway, was fabulous to get out to a ‘real’ hike!!
I am certainly feeling a few aches but nothing too dreadful considering!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend planned – although I know a lot of people have to hunker down again – we’ve had quite the Covid 19 surge in Australia, especially Victoria. So far Tasmania hasn’t had much happening there as the border is still pretty much closed generally (Harder to sneak in when there is a large body of water in your way)
Distressing watching the numbers in the US soar lately – please everyone do everything you can to keep yourselves safe and healthy! xx

Take care!

A happy traveller through life! Right now living in NW Tasmania with a gorgeous Nurse-Husband, a fool of a Siamese Cat and several chickens. We love our fairly simple lifestyle of growing a lot of what we eat and enjoying the stunning surrounds of our little patch.

  1. Love your photo from the top of the world! Amazing views. The photos you share are a vacation for my eyes and mind. Covid has turned our world upside down, no matter where in the world you live. I am lucky enough to live is a state with relatively small numbers compared to other states. We’re being as careful and proactive/protective as possible. We’re amazed at the amount of people who are vacationing in other states. We are staying close to home this year, taking a staycation on our farm instead of moving about.

  2. Lisa, would share your soap recipe and website addresses for all the different techniques you use? I love your soaps and want to advance my soapmaking.

    1. Hi!! I tried to email you but it keeps getting rejected! I can’t share Sharons recipe publically but more than happy to add in the web addresses from where some of my ideas came from!! If you get a chance – email me at lisadyke1@bigpond.com 🙂 We’ll talk soap 🙂

  3. Greetings from upstate NY. I too live in an area with low numbers considering the state’s numbers. My hubby graduated from Ohio University which is located in Athens Ohio. That county has a sudden surge in cases, making the county tops in the state! Behind the numbers, the college students partied July 4, and now they are paying for the party with their health. So sad that the youth think they are going to live forever.

    1. Athens is 45 minutes from me and a favorite spot on Saturday mornings for their wonderful farmer’s market, but not this year. They had under 10 cases for the longest time, until the college students began returning for sports practices and now they have an outbreak. They’ve suspended sports practices and are telling the Covid positive students to return home for quarantine.

      1. We’re all really missing our ‘usual’ things like cool markets and general interactions. Things are more relaxed where we are, but can’t help thinking it won’t take much to plunge us back to square one!

    2. Hello!! Glad your area is keeping the numbers low. I guessed there would be a number of July 4th parties – people just can’t help themselves more’s the pity 🙁
I think we got a case down in Hobart… someone coming in from Melbourne but they were quarantined when they arrived so when she started showing symptoms it meant a limited amount of contact made with others (everyone has a mandatory 2 week Q when coming into Tas)
Seems like we’ve got a long long road to go before knocking this thing on the head!!
