I dropped in to see Ruby this afternoon – she was having a cuppa with Margie, all worn out because she had been weeding all afternoon!
Ruby was resting up in the sun room when I walked in today –
She said after all the weeding she still had to go into the hothouse as she had promised her plants a bit of a feed and water… but she found something in there which was now sitting on the sink in the kitchen. I was sent to see for myself!
A nearly ripe tomato in Tasmania at the end of winter!! We will never hear the end of this!! π
While chatting with Ruby the other day she was telling us about her young days when she played hockey! The country teams were all about getting together and having some fun. Sometimes they would even rope in spectators from the sidelines to play to make up team numbers!
Can you imagine Ruby, riding her horse up to the game, changing into her hockey gear in the stable before getting onto the field?? Thats so awesome Β – wish I had that time machine! Oh the photos I could get!! π
Often after a game the home team would put on a dance because everyone was around, so they could all get together and enjoy some social time.
Have a great day!
Cheers!
She is just so amazing. You are all so lucky to have her in your lives.
We certainly are lucky!
Lovely story, thanks for sharing it. Those magnolia flowers, aren’t they wonderful? They’re the “real deal” not the pretend ones round here that bloom on native trees with dark green leaves, dark brown on the back.
I can’t picture the type of magnolia you mean – I have probably seen them and not realised, but yes, this one and others around here are gorgeous. Usually it waits and blooms right on her birthday!! Shame its a little early this year… will choose another location for birthday photos!! π
Ruby has more energy that I do! And I am green with envy over her magnolia tree……
I know! I am feeling terribly guilty I haven’t put in any hard hours in her garden for such a long time!! Still… weather is on the up and up! There is hope!
Is that a Japanese magnolia? It’s usually the first to bloom in the US in spring. Ruby is feeling spring in the air and I’ll bet that tomato was just the taste she needs to put spring in her step!
She was extremely pleased with herself, thats for sure!! Was great to see!
I will have to ask her what type it is. I have noticed lots of the other magnolias are out around town too…
