Seaweed, Beaches and Afternoon Tea

It seemed a bit of a waste for Rosemary to bring her gardening clothes all the way to Tasmania and only use them once… so off to the beach with the trailer we went to collect a heap of seaweed!
Lots on the beach right now.

Beautiful day again today!

After loading up the trailer, we went down to Fossil Bluff for some beach time and a bit of a fossick of course!

First we walked up to the top of the bluff… it didn’t seem right to not walk up some sort of incline on Rosemary’s last day!

It was the perfect day to be down by the water

Checking out the 30 million year old shells…

So many rocks – so little time…

The tide was still low enough to get up to the other side of the beach – although Rosemary got a bit caught on a rock shelf and had to take off her shoes to wade back over to the beach! Oopsie

Fabulous seaweed on the cliff

Naturally we had to squeeze in an afternoon cuppa with Ruby and Margie!

It was so lovely sitting in the sunny front room catching up on news and having a bite to eat!

Its been a fabulous week with my sister… I will be very sad to put her on a plane tomorrow!!

Hope everyone’s week has started well and I will leave you with some more of those hairy seaweed photos!

Cheers

A happy traveller through life! Right now living in NW Tasmania with a gorgeous Nurse-Husband, a fool of a Siamese Cat and several chickens. We love our fairly simple lifestyle of growing a lot of what we eat and enjoying the stunning surrounds of our little patch.

  1. Gorgeous photos!! Thank you for sharing. It seems like your beaches are unspoiled and never crowded. Do you usually have them all to yourselves? Sounds like paradise; and it does seem like you have the nicest weather there, especially if it’s Fall there now. How far away is the airport and how long is your sister’s flight home?

    1. Thanks Teri – yes, we are a bit spoiled here for space. I feel if there is 5 or so other people on the beach its crowded!! haha And really – its often the case to be the only ones on the beach – esp places like Anniversary Bay. Yesterday we were down at Fossil Bluff for an hour or so and saw about 10 – 12 other people coming and going. So not bad! And the weather has been really lovely so far this autumn!
I just got back from the airport – about an hour from here. Rose’s plane was delayed because of fog in Melbourne. She then has to fly out to Canberra so unfortunately misses her connecting flight and will be hanging about in airports all day! Sigh. Nothing you can do! Its only an hour to Melbourne and probably an hour and a half to Canberra from there. So the flight time isn’t much – just all the waiting and delays!!
